In North Carolina, a majority vote is required in one session of the North Carolina State Legislature to place an amendment on the ballot.
The amendment was introduced as Senate Bill 920. The State Senate passed the bill along partisan lines with Republicans in favor and Democrats opposed on December 2, 2024.[2]
