Three seats on the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale School District 622 Board of Education were up for general election on November 4, 2014.

Incumbents Amy Coborn and Michelle Yener ran against challengers Caleb Anderson, Bennie Bennett, and Danny Porter for the seats. Fellow board member Mark Wheeler did not file for re-election.[1] Coborn, Yener, and Anderson won the three seats.

North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale School District 622 is located in Ramsey County, Minnesota. The county seat is St. Paul. Ramsey County had a population of 526,714 residents, according to the United States Census Bureau in 2014.[2] In the 2011-2012 school year, North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale School District 622 was the 11th-largest school district in Minnesota and served 10,799 students.[3]

Demographics

In 2012, Ramsey County had a higher percentage of residents with a bachelor's degree compared to the state overall. The United States Census Bureau reported that 39.2 percent of residents aged 25 and older in Ramsey County had earned a bachelor's degree, compared with 32.2 percent for Minnesota. The county’s median household income was $53,152, below the state median of $59,126. The poverty rate in Ramsey County was 16.8 percent, above the state rate of 11.2 percent.[2]

As of the 2014 election, the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale Board of Education consisted of seven members elected at-large to four-year terms. There was no primary election, and the general election was held on November 4, 2014. Three seats were up for election in 2014.[1]

School board candidates had to file with their county elections department during the candidate filing period. The filing period began on July 29, 2014, and ended on August 12, 2014. To vote in the 2014 general election, voters had to register by October 14, 2014.[5][6]

Incumbent Amy Coborn and challengers Caleb Anderson and Danny Porter received an endorsement from the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale Education Association.[7]
