Patrick Canan was a member of the St. Johns County School Board in Florida, representing District 5. He left office on November 19, 2024.
Canan won re-election to the St. Johns County School Board to represent District 5 in Florida outright in the primary on August 18, 2020, after the primary and general election were canceled.

2016
One of the five seats on the St. Johns County School District school board was up for by-district primary election on August 30, 2016. In his bid for re-election, District 2 incumbent Tommy Allen defeated challenger John Reardon. The seat of District 5 incumbent Patrick Canan was originally set to be on the ballot in 2016, but since he ran unopposed, his name did not appear on the ballot and he was automatically re-elected to an additional term.[1][2]
