Tim Forson is the superintendent of the St. Johns County School District. Forson was appointed superintendent in November 2016. Forson's previous career experience includes working as the district's deputy superintendent for operations and as a principal.[1]

School board

The St. Johns County School District school board consists of five members elected to four-year terms. Board members are elected to specific geographical districts in at-large elections.[3][4]

Elections are held on a staggered basis in the November general election.[3]

Two seats on the board were up for general election on November 5, 2024. A primary was scheduled for August 20, 2024.

Public participation in board meetings

The St. Johns County School District school board maintains the following policy on public testimony during board meetings:[5]

(12) The public has a right to address the School Board at any Regular, Special, or Emergency Meeting prior to the Board taking final action on a matter. The School Board may adopt a procedure for public comment including imposing a reasonable time restriction on the length of an individual’s comments to the Board, but in no case may those comments be limited to less than three (3) minutes unless a longer period is allowed by law. The public may also address the School Board at a workshop meeting.

(13) The public shall be informed that it is unlawful to knowingly disrupt or interfere with a School Board meeting and that any such action may result in a misdemeanor offense of the second degree. This includes individuals who advise, counsel, or instruct students or School Board employees on techniques for disrupting a School Board meeting.[6]
