First and foremost, I’m a parent. Reno is where my wife and I chose to settle down and raise our two preschool-age boys because of its strong sense of community and the opportunities it offers. Like all parents, I want the best for my children. But my decision to run goes beyond my own family; it’s about believing in our public schools.

I’m also a business leader. Over the past ten years, I founded two successful technology businesses that are still thriving today, one of which we sold. From my experience in that field, I know there are also plenty of technologies that don’t work, or that even get in the way of meaningful student learning. As your school board trustee, I will ensure we spend money only on things that actually help teachers and students. At the same time, I understand how the world is changing — and how our schools must adapt so that our kids are prepared to meet those changes.

Last but not least, I’m an educator. I recently spent several months substitute teaching in Washoe County, from second grade through high school; I also tutor foster kids in order to help them get their diplomas. I simply love teaching kids and being in the classroom — so much so that I considered becoming a teacher. But just before the school board filing deadline, I was asked by several members of the community to step into this race. After careful consideration, I realized that serving on the school board would provide the opportunity to have more impact on more kids.
  • Support our teachers: If we don’t support our teachers, we don’t have good schools. Period. I’ll fight to continue increasing pay and create pathways for teachers themselves to learn, grow, and feel supported. Recent raises were a great start, but only bring teachers closer to a “survivable” wage — I’d like to see a livable one.
  • Welcome all students: I am committed to creating school environments where every student feels welcome, safe, respected, and valued — regardless of their background or identity.
  • Decrease testing, increase teaching: I believe we must reduce standardized testing and make more room for real education. This means spending more time engaging in hands-on learning and creative problem-solving that prepares our students for the real world.
Education, economics & jobs, social services. I believe we need systems that free us to pursue quality education, secure meaningful employment, and access essential social services.
Integrity, transparency, and a commitment to serving the community.
As a business leader, I honed my capacity to listen and critically reflect on issues, allowing me to make informed and balanced decisions. At the same time, I have a bias toward action, which ensures that I take proactive steps to address challenges and implement solutions.
The core responsibilities for someone elected to the school board are supporting the superintendent while holding them accountable, shaping and enacting effective policies, and managing the budget responsibly.
My very first job was as a math tutor. Education runs deep in my life! I started tutoring as a freshman in high school and continued through college.
My constituents are the residents of Washoe County, specifically those in District G. This diverse group includes students, parents, teachers, school staff, and community members.
Washoe Education Association (our teachers!) as well as many local elected officials and public figures.
