Philip Smith (Arkansas)

Phil Smith was the Division 2 judge of the Third Circuit of Arkansas from 2001 to 2017. Governor Mike Huckabee (R) appointed Smith to the bench in March 2001, and he was elected for his first full term in 2002. He was re-elected to the Third Circuit in 2008, and again on May 20, 2014. Smith retired on December 31, 2017.[1]
Smith was married to former Arkansas House of Representatives member Linda Collins-Smith until 2018.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8]

Education
Smith earned his undergraduate degree at Arkansas State University. He received his J.D. from University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1979.[9][6]
Career
Before becoming a Third Circuit judge, Smith spent nine years as a municipal judge for the city of Pocahontas and Randolph County. He was a lawyer for 22 years, having been admitted to the bar in 1979. While in school, Smith worked for the Jonesboro Sun and as an editor for the Arkansas Democrat.[6][9]
