Richard D. Stephens is a judge of the Twenty-Fourth Family Court Circuit in West Virginia. He assumed office on August 23, 2021. His term ended in 2022.

He was appointed to the court on July 27, 2021, by Gov. Jim Justice (R) to replace David Greenberg.

Stephens previously served as judge of the Berkeley County Magistrate Court in West Virginia. He assumed office in 2017. He left office on August 20, 2021 after being appointed to the Circuit Court.[1]

Biography

Education

Stephens received a bachelor's degree from Alderson-Broaddus College and a J.D. from the Claude W. Petit College of Law at Ohio Northern University.

Career

Prior to serving on the bench, Stephens served as a Berkeley County Magistrate for four years. He previously worked for ten years as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Berkeley County and for five years as a lawyer in private practice.[2]
