Richard A. Swartz Jr. (also known as Rick) is a judge of the Louisiana 22nd Judicial District Court.

Swartz (Republican Party) ran for election for judge of the Louisiana 1st Circuit Court of Appeal 3rd District. He lost in the general election on July 11, 2020.

Swartz is the Division C judge of the 22nd Judicial District in Louisiana. He was elected to this position on October 4, 2008, and took office the following January 1st.[1][2][3] He was re-elected in 2014 for a term beginning on January 1, 2015, and expiring on December 31, 2020.[4][5]

Biography

Education

Swartz received his B.A. in pre-law and political science from the University of New Orleans in 1977 and his J.D. from the Louisiana State University Law School in 1978.[2]

Career

Swartz was a private practice lawyer prior to his judicial election in 2008. He also worked as an assistant district attorney for the 22nd Judicial District from 1980 to 1984 and as a judge pro tempore for the Slidell City Court in 2004.[2]
