Russell Hensley
Russell Hensley is a former member of the Lexington City Council in Kentucky, representing District 12. He was appointed to the council by Mayor Jim Gray on August 27, 2015, to succeed Ed Lane.[1] He filed to run for re-election in 2016, but, on September 22, 2016, Hensley withdrew from the election and resigned from the council.[2] Although he resigned and withdrew from the race, his name still appeared on the ballot.
Biography
Hensley moved from London, Ky., to Lexington in 1995. He received a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Kentucky. After working for the University of Kentucky Medical Center for six years, he co-founded an information technology company called Hensley / Elam. His other business ventures are the design and branding company Shatterbox and the off-site date backup service provider asiGuardian.[3]

2016
The city of Lexington, Kentucky, held elections for city council on November 8, 2016. Since no more than two candidates filed for any given district, there were no primary races. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was January 26, 2016. Russell Hensley was the incumbent on the council. He resigned, however, on September 22, 2016, and Kathy Plomin was appointed to fill his seat. Hensley announced that he was withdrawing from the race, but his name still appeared on the ballot. Incumbent Kathy Plomin defeated Russell Hensley in the Lexington City Council District 12 general election.[4]
