Scott Rasmussen's Number of the Day for April 23, 2024
The Number of the Day columns published on Ballotpedia reflect the views of the author.
April 23, 2024: Sixty-five percent (65%) of voters say that it is best for state and local governments to set their own minimum wages that recognize differences in the cost of living in different parts of the country. A Scott Rasmussen national survey conducted by RMG Research found that just 28% believe the federal government should set a minimum wage that is the same everywhere.
The survey also found that voters are divided between those who believe it is more important to raise the minimum wage for some workers (47%) and those who think it is more important to increase the number of entry-level jobs (44%).
Methodology
The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on April 15-16, 2024. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population. The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points.
