July 8, 2019: In 2018, 31% of full-time employed persons worked on an average weekend day. Not surprisingly, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that more people are working on weekdays. Among full-time workers, an average of 89% can be found working Monday through Friday.[1]

The weekend shifts for many are shorter than weekdays. Those full-time workers who put in time on a weekend day averaged 5.4 hours of work. On weekdays, the average work time was 8.5 hours.

Each weekday, Scott Rasmussen’s Number of the Day explores interesting and newsworthy topics at the intersection of culture, politics, and technology.
