July 8, 2025: Twenty-eight reconciliation bills have been passed by Congress since 1985.

A budget reconciliation is the process used to speed up the passage of a bill with a simple majority of 51 votes in the Senate. Reconciliation bills can only be initiated if a call for it has been made and passed in the House and the Senate. Debate times are limited to 50 hours, and filibusters are not allowed.
