March 17, 2026: Two hundred and fifty (250) years ago, on March 17, 1776, the British were kicked out of Boston. This was due to General George Washington putting fortifications and cannons at Dorchester Heights, which sits south of Boston. The setup for the fortifications started on March 4 when Washington told Major General John Thomas to start secretly bringing soldiers and other workers into Dorchester Heights. Once the British realized this, they had to evacuate. This ended the eight-year hold the British had on Boston.[1]
