Sulley reassigned after audit reveals monetary issues in the court
Sulley was suspended by Chief Justice Rebecca White Berch on February 11, 2014, following an audit of the Maricopa/Stanfield Justice Court which determined that the court had failed to manage its money well. The audit found that numerous deposits had not been made on behalf of the court, and that money was not properly organized. The court was short more than $155,000 that was supposed to have been deposited with the state treasurer. More than $112,000 of this was found around the courtroom; nevertheless, the total missing money amounted to more than $46,000.[4]
Justice Berch said that Sulley's management was "problematic" and that he would be reassigned to unspecified duties until the situation was sorted out. Sulley resigned in June 2014.[3][5]
2010 election
Sulley was re-elected to the justice court. He defeated Frank Gagliardi in the general election, winning 71.25% of the vote.[6]
