Signa Oliver earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Phoenix in 1990 and a law degree from the Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 1994.[1]

I am a native born Phoenician. Mother of two children and 7 grandchildren

Youngest of 5 children, 1st person in the family to obtain a graduate degree.

A product/graduate of Phoenix Union High School District's South Mountain High School. Graduate of the University of Phoenix, Phoenix, AZ: - Bachelor of Science, Business Administration (1990); and Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law, Houston, TX - Juris Doctorate (1994).

US Army veteran; currently Vice President, People & Culture for privately held company.
  • Public Schools need to be overfunded to repair the damage of years of underfunding to provide the students, educators and administrators with the resource necessary for a quality public education.
  • Restorative justice and equity for all students is imperative to provide an enriching public school education experience that will guide them to be the best version of themselves as adults.
  • Public school safety is a must to ensure all students, faculty and staff can experience a safe environment to learn, thrive and grow.

My legacy will be that of an advocate for those that needed a voice.
I was born and raised in a marginalized community and have had to show my self more than capable throughout my life and to this day. I purpose to do it with grace and honor and an attitude that there are no limits.
The primary job of a school board member is to ensure that the school system has all of the resources to afford the best possible education to the students of the community.
The students, parents, educators, staff, administrators and community of Phoenix Union High School District.
I will research, communicate (listen) to all of the stakeholders to have a complete understanding of the needs, desires, issues and opportunities that are important and work together with the other members of the governing board and school superintendent and his office to ensure that equitable measures are take to resolve as many of the needs as possible within the framework of my authority and influence as a member of the governing board,
I will speak with and attend any meetings and engage in onsite visits with members of the community to provide insight and transparency into the needs, issues and concerns of the members of the community.

Advocacy to federal and state governing bodies to remove aggregate spending limits for allocations to public schools.
Add social workers and mental health professionals to the school staff to be available to assist with providing direction to those seeking mental/behavioral healthcare.
Student and teacher safety is imperative; reasonable and safe measures must all be considered.
