Campaign website
Ponto's campaign website stated the following:
MY PRIORITIES
Public Safety, Quality Development, Quality of Life, and Education
My priorities are clear: keeping our neighborhoods safe, promoting
thoughtful growth, supporting our schools, and enhancing parks,
amenities, and local businesses—ensuring Brookfield remains the premier
choice in the metropolitan area and a vibrant, welcoming place to live,
work, and play.
Public Safety
I strongly support our Police Department and Fire Department in making
the City of Brookfield a safe community. During my tenure, we have
added personnel to both departments. Our Police Department does an
excellent job protecting our City and providing back up support to
neighboring communities. Our Fire Department not only handles fires,
but also provides emergency medical and rescue services. Firefighters
hired in recent years must be licensed paramedics reflecting the fact
that most calls today are for emergency medical services.
Quality Development
During my time as Mayor, Brookfield has experienced record, high quality
commercial and residential development. Our extensive commercial
development has provided increased employment opportunities, more goods
and services available to our residents, and added to our tax base.
While Brookfield ranks 16th in population in Wisconsin, it ranks 9th in
equalized value. Also, our tax rate is one of the lowest in the region
for a full service municipality.
Quality of Life
Brookfield has many amenities which make it the “community of choice” in the
metropolitan area. In recent years, Brookfield has welcomed the first
Lifetime Fitness in Wisconsin, the City has developed the Brookfield
Conference Center, and also developed the award-winning Hidden Lake
Park. Brookfield often ranks near the top in national surveys of Best
Mid-Size Cities, and is usually at the top of Wisconsin surveys of such
cities.
Education
I will continue to support Brookfield’s outstanding public and private
schools by fostering safe neighborhoods, maintaining well-planned
infrastructure, and encouraging collaboration between schools, the
community, and local businesses, ensuring they remain a hallmark of our
community’s excellence.
