Thanh Tran was an at-large member of the Franklin-McKinley Board of Education in California. Tran assumed office in 2014. Tran left office on December 9, 2022.

Tran won re-election for an at-large seat of the Franklin-McKinley Board of Education in California outright after the general election on November 6, 2018, was canceled.

The general election was canceled. Rudy Rodriguez (Nonpartisan), Thanh Tran (Nonpartisan), and Kerry Rosado (Nonpartisan) won without appearing on the ballot.

Three at-large seats on the Franklin-McKinley School District Board of Education were up for general election on November 4, 2014. Only one incumbent, Rudy Rodriguez, filed to run for re-election. He ran against challengers Thanh Tran, Omar Torres and Tina Castillo. Rodriguez won his bid for re-election. Tran and Torres also won seats on the board.
