I am the Deputy Executive Director for East Aldine Management District. In my current role, I oversee a $14million dollar budget that brings services and projects to the community. I work with families, residents, partners, organizations to continue to understand what resources are needed for our community and how to bridge gaps. I am also a full time working single mother. I was born in Houston, TX and raised in Aldine. I attended all Aldine schools, an alumni, and now my child attends the same schools as I did.
- I want to ensure that our students, teachers, staff, and campuses are safe for all to have a healthy environment to learn in.
- I want to continue advocating for teachers and staff by increasing retention.
- I want to ensure that I oversee the financial responsibility and transparency of the budget by increasing community engagement.
I am passionate about funding and the resources that are provided. More importantly how this impacts learning curriculum, safety, teachers/staff, and even mental health.
I believe the most important are being able to listen, observe, speak up on issues, and go into the community.
The core responsibilities are overseeing that the right policies and decision making are what will improve the schools district as a whole.
The first historical event was 9/11. I remember being in my biology class in high school looking at the tv in the corner. I remember thinking it was just a movie, not happening and not about to change the world, my life! It was a day that ,at the time, as a young teenager, I did not realize my son would be reading about it in his history books.
My very first job was a media assistant at LSC - North Harris (formerly North Harris Montgomery Community College). I used to take tv's and projectors on metal stands to classrooms that were rented out for use. This was before each classroom was equipped with flat screen tv's and computer white boards. I worked there for almost two years.
The primary role is to be the representation of the school district you are servicing and oversee the administration.
My constituents are all. From the community of parents, non-parents, students, teachers, businesses. Each play a vital role in how a school district come together to ensure the best is provided for the community as a whole.
I will work with my fellow board members and administration to ensure we are listening and understanding the areas we serve.
This is something I do on a daily with my current role, so brining these would streamline the connections and relationships. I would work with the non-profits like MOVE who provide mental health/fitness to schools, Bonding Against Adversity for continued citizenship classes, Lone Star College for continued ESL and further educational paths, Harris County Commissioners for continued partnerships on community concerns, issues, or improvements.
Advocate for the school districts and public education to our state legislature as much as possible. Communicate with them on a regular on what funding is needed to ensure public education is kept top priority.
A school should be one of the safest places for anyone to be in. Better technology and plans in place. Plus practice for any situation. Also, education on the topics of school safety to students, faculty, and parents.
I want to engage myself in what programs exist and what does the data show about them being utilized. I understand that some laws have changed the outreach to students and this can be an effect. There are programs that currently exist as well as partners that want to provide more resources. I would like to build those relationships to all the schools and ensure students/faculty/staff and parents are aware of the resources.

Connie Esparza, AISD Trustee
Dr. Viola Garcia, AISD Trustee
Rose Avalos, AISD Trustee
Ruben Salazar, Sunbelt FWSD Board Director My ideal learning environment is first safety for all. A classroom that offers space for creativity and more one on one.
As a parent, I will continue to be in the schools, events, local stores, etc... speaking with parents. I will ensure that parents know how they can participate in their child's education.
First, looking over the budget to see what the current rates are and the increases over time. Find ways to provide incentives. Speak with staff, faculty that have been there for an amount of years and form a committee to discuss ways to recruit. Observe and listen, then take action.
I believe that AI can be a beneficial tool but we should not forget the basics. I had a teacher always teach us the long way so we knew how we got the answer and then would teach the "easy" way. However, the key is learning the basic or the long way will stay with you in case technology crashes. So to end, AI can be a tool to aid in learning, but not a substitute for the long way of learning.
