The Washington Supermajority Vote Required to Raise Taxes, Initiative 1181, did not appear on the November 2011 statewide ballot in Washington as an Initiative to the People.
The initiative would have required a 2/3 supermajority vote of the Washington State Legislature, or a statewide vote, for tax increases.[1][2]
Five initiatives were filed: 1111, 1120, 1123, 1131, 1181.
A similar initiative - 1133, 1136 and 1151 - would have required that sixty-five percent legislative approval to raise taxes.
Initiative sponsors included: Tim Eyman, Leo J. Fagan and M.J. Fagan.

Although the initiative was filed in 2011, initiative supporters announced that the proposal would be proposed for the 2012 ballot dependent on outcomes of the 2011 legislative session. In order to qualify for the ballot, supporters were required to submit a minimum of 241,153 valid signatures.
