Hollowell ran for election to the 17A Judicial District.
General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 49.3 percent of the vote. He competed against Christine Fields Strader.

Judicial performance evaluation
In July 2014, the North Carolina Bar Association released the results of a survey in which it asked lawyers to rate the judicial candidates for the trial courts. The candidates were rated from one to five on five different criteria as well as on their overall performance.[2]

Education
Hollowell received his J.D. from Campbell Law School in 2007.[3]
Career
Hollowell has clerked for Justices George Wainwright and Paul Martin Newby of the North Carolina Supreme Court. He later joined the law firm of Maddrey Etringer Smith Hollowell & Toney in Eden, North Carolina.[3]
