James M. Peterson is a judge of the Dunn County Circuit Court in Wisconsin. He was elected in 2014, and his current term will expire in 2020.[1]

Primary: He was successful in the primary on February 18, 2014, receiving 45.3 percent of the vote. He competed against Roger M. Hillestad and Christina M. Mayer.
General: He defeated Christina M. Mayer in the general election on April 1, 2014, receiving 51.5 percent of the vote. [2][3]

Education

Peterson received an undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota-Minneapolis in 1982 and a law degree from the University of Wisconsin-Law School in 1985.[4]

Career

Prior to being elected to the bench, Peterson was the district attorney for Dunn County. He was appointed to the position by Governor Tommy Thompson in 1989. Previously, Peterson served as an assistant district attorney for Dunn County and worked in private practice.[4]
