D. Michael Collins is the former Mayor of Toledo, Ohio. He held the office from January 2, 2014 to February 1, 2015. Before he became Mayor of Toledo, Collins represented District 2 on Toledo's City Council from 2008 to 2014 and served as a Police Officer in the Toledo Police Department from 1973 to 2000.[1]
Collins died on February 6, 2015, less than a week after experiencing cardiac arrest. He was 70 years old.[2]
Biography
Collins was born in Toledo, Ohio. After graduating from Libbey High School, he served in the United States Marine Corps for six years. He reached the rank of Colonel and was honorably discharged. He held a B.A. in business administration and an M.B.A from the University of Toledo. His professional experience included working as a police officer.[1]
