The York County School Board is a five-member board elected by district to four-year terms. All five incumbents won re-election on November 3, 2015.[1] District 3 incumbent Mark Medford and District 4 incumbent R. Page Minter each faced and defeated a single challenger. Both District 1 incumbent Barbara Haywood and District 2 incumbent Cindy Kirschke ran unopposed and won re-election to their seats.[2]

The District 5 race between incumbent Robert George and challenger Sean Myatt was too close to call following the general election. George led by one vote in the unofficial results published after the election. Myatt requested a recount. Virginia law allowed for a recount if the winning and losing vote totals were within 1 percent of each other.[3] On December 1, 2015, a recount determined that George won the election by a one-vote margin.[4]
