Maine: Governor Paul LePage nominated Jeffrey Hjelm to the Maine Supreme Judicial Court on May 7, 2014. Hjelm, if confirmed by the state senate, will fill the vacancy created by Jon Levy's appointment to the U.S. District Court. Hjelm has served as a superior court judge for Knox County since 1998.[1]
LePage also chose a replacement for Hjelm on the superior court--William R. Stokes. Stokes is a veteran of the Maine Attorney General's office and the mayor of Augusta. His nomination is also subject to senate approval.
