A matite Township General Levy Increase measure was on the May 8, 2012 ballot in the Hematite township which is in Iron County.

This measure sought to increase the current levy by a rate of $5 per $1,000 of assessed value for a period of five years in order to further pay for general needs in the township.[2]
Text of measure
The question on the ballot:
| Shall the present tax rate be assessed against the taxable property in Hematite Township, Iron County, Michigan, for all purposes be increased as provided by Section 6, Article 9 of the Constitution of the State of Michigan by five (5) mills, $5.00 per $1,000.00 of taxable value for the years 2013 - 2017, all inclusive, the money raised to be used exclusively for general township purposes? This levy would raise an estimated $75,584.40 in the first years." (This being a renewal of the five (5.0) mills which expires with the 2012 Tax Levy.)[3] |
