Richard D. Greene was the Chief Judge on the Kansas Court of Appeals. He was appointed to this position by Governor Sebelius to a term beginning on June 18, 2003.[1][2] He was most recently retained by voters in 2008. [3]

Effective January 10, 2011, Greene became Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals. He was appointed to the position by the Kansas Supreme Court.[4]

Greene passed away on October 7, 2012.[5] However, his name remained on the ballot on Nov. 6, 2012 and he was retained with 72% of the vote.[6]

Education

Judge Greene graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1972 with a B.S. in business administration and went on to receive a J.D. degree from Southern Methodist University-Dallas in 1975.[1]

Career

After law school, Judge Greene joined the law firm Morris, Laing, Evans, Brock & Kennedy. He practiced with this firm for 28 years. He was appointed to sit with the Kansas Supreme Court for parts of the 2007-2008 term and he has been the presiding judge of the Motions Panel of the Court of Appeals.[1]
