Davis was appointed by Gov. Tony Evers (D) on September 4, 2019. He succeeded Brian Hagedorn, who won an election to the Wisconsin Supreme Court in April 2019.[1]

At the time of his appointment, Davis was a partner at the law firm Quarles & Brady.
