My name is Jeff Basinger. I am a lifelong Missouri resident. I live in Columbia with my wife and two children. I co-own my law firm, a block from the Boone County Courthouse. I previously worked for legal in Columbia for 8 years.

I believe Missourians want an end to the extremist, divisive politics we see in Jefferson City. I want strong public schools and the restoration of reproductive rights. I want to make sure working families have good jobs and health care access.

Missouri needs representatives who are productive, not ones who stoke anger and engage in political theater.
  • I support restoring reproductive rights in Missouri.

After Roe v Wade was overturned, I filed the first ballot initiative petition in Missouri to restore normal rights.

I believe that women’s medical decisions and bodily autonomy should be protected. I will fight to protect women’s rights.
  • I believe teachers should be fairly paid and our public schools should be adequately funded. We never should have dropped to 50th starting teacher pay and 49th in state funding for schools. Most children will go to public schools. They are a cornerstone of every Missouri community. We need to give schools a chance to succeed, not attack them for political reasons.
  • We need a strong economy for Missouri. We want Missouri to be a place where people want to work, learn and raise a family. We need good jobs, a strong infrastructure and a tax system that gives workers financial relief. We also need to avoid extremist politics that hinder businesses. We do not want to deter people from investing in our state.
I am personally passionate about reproductive rights, public education, voting rights and workers’ rights.
I also feel it is important to speak the truth and be productive. There is too much deception, anger and divisiveness in politics.
Candor. Legal analytic abilities. Integrity. Willingness to learn and listen.
Paying teachers and funding public schools.
Disinformation and angry, divisive politics.
They are important.

We need to make sure the Sunshine Laws are being followed by government officials.

Our budget process has been woefully closed and unaccountable to the public.
