Robert D. Bell is a judge for District 5 Office 2 of the Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals. He assumed office in 2005. His current term ends on January 12, 2031.
Bell ran for re-election for the District 5 Office 2 judge of the Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals. He won in the retention election on November 5, 2024.
He was appointed to this position by Democratic Gov. Brad Henry.[1][2]
Education
Bell received his bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1989 and his J.D. from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 1992.[3] Bell later earned an LL.M. from the Duke University School of Law.[4]
Career
For thirteen years, Judge Bell was in private practice in Norman, Oklahoma. Also during that time he served as municipal judge for the cities of Moore, Purcell, Blanchard, Noble, and Broken Arrow.
In 1994, at age 27, Bell was appointed to the bench, becoming the youngest sitting judge in Oklahoma. Since 1998, he has served as adjunct professor at the University of Oklahoma College of Law. He was appointed judge on the court of civil appeals in June 2005.[3]
