Robert J. McDonald was a judge of the New York Supreme Court 11th Judicial District.
Biography
Education
McDonald received his undergraduate degree from St. John's University and his J.D. degree from New York Law School in 1979.[1]
Career
McDonald began his career in 1978 as an associate with the law practice of Robert N. Hochberg. He then worked as the law secretary for Judge Eugene Bambrick from 1980 to 1981 and as Chief Counsel for the Board of Standards & Appeals from 1981 to 1982. From 1982 to 1984, he was a legislative attorney for the New York City Council. After that, he was an Administrative Law Judge for the Dept. of Motor Vehicles from 1984 to 1987. He then returned to the position of law secretary, serving Justice Stanley Katz from 1988 to 1992. From 1992 through 1999, he served as judge of the New York City Civil Court and Acting Justice of the Supreme Court's 11th District. He became a Supreme Court Justice in 2000.[1]
2013 election
McDonald ran for re-election to the Supreme Court 11th Judicial District. General: He was elected in the general election on November 5, 2013, with 32.7 percent of the vote. John F. Casey, Kerry John Katsorhis, Barry Schwartz and Jeremy S. Weinstein were also on the ballot, competing for three open seats.[2][3][4]
