Sharon A. M. Aarons is a judge for the 3rd Department of the New York Supreme Court Appellate Division. She assumed office on March 1, 2016. Her current term ends on December 31, 2028.

Aarons is also a judge of the New York Supreme Court 12th Judicial District. Her current term ends on January 1, 2038.

Aarons (Democratic Party) ran for re-election for judge of the New York Supreme Court 12th Judicial District. She won in the general election on November 7, 2023.

Education

Aarons received her B.A. degree from New York University and her J.D. degree from the City University of New York, Queens College School of Law.[1]

Career

Aarons began her career in 1989 as a staff attorney in the Criminal Division of the Legal Aid Society. In 1994, she left that position to work as the principal law clerk to Supreme Court Justice Alexander W. Hunter. In 1998, she joined the law firm of William Gallina, where she practiced as an associate until 2000. She then worked as principal law clerk to Bronx County Surrogate Lee Holzman through 2003. Aarons was elected to the New York City Civil Court bench in 2004. She was re-elected and joined the Supreme Court in 2010.[1]
