Escobar defeated Michael D. Davidson in the general election on November 6, 2012, to retain her seat on the Eighth Judicial District Court. She earned 51.23 percent of the vote.[2]

Education
Escobar received her bachelor's degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She earned her J.D. from the California Western School of Law.[3]
Career
Prior to her appointment to the bench, Escobar was a deputy Nevada attorney general. Before beginning work for the attorney general, she was special counsel at Fox Rothschild LLP, representing clients in corporate, immigration and administrative law. Escobar has also previously worked as a public utilities commissioner and as an attorney in private practice. She became a member of the Nevada bar in 1993.[3][4]
2013 judicial performance evaluation
In 2013, the Las Vegas Review-Journal sponsored a survey of 902 lawyers who rated Nevada Supreme Court justices and judges located in Clark County. 71% of respondents voted in favor of keeping Escobar on the bench. The average vote in favor of retention for all 88 judges evaluated was 71%.[5]
