Alexis Taylor
Alexis Taylor was the Oregon Director of Agriculture. Taylor assumed office on January 23, 2017. Taylor left office on September 30, 2022.
Gov. Kate Brown (D) appointed Taylor as director on November 18, 2016, and she assumed office on January 23, 2017.[1] Taylor resigned in September 2022, to take a job as under secretary of Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of Agriculture.[2][3]
Biography
Taylor, an Iowa native, graduated from Iowa State University in 2005 and began a career in Congress, working in the offices of Rep. Leonard Boswell for five years and Sen. Max Baucus for two more. Taylor then joined the U.S. Department of Agriculture in 2013 as chief of staff for farm and foreign agriculture services. In 2014, Taylor was nominated as deputy under secretary of agriculture, a post which she held until December 2016. At the USDA, Taylor spearheaded a program which promoted gender diversity in agriculture.[4] In addition, Taylor was a member of the U.S. Army Reserve from 1998 to 2006, completing one tour of duty in Iraq.[1][3]
