Josie Garton is a judge of the Alaska Third District Superior Court. She assumed office in 2018. Her current term ends in 2029.

Garton ran for re-election for judge of the Alaska Third District Superior Court. She won in the retention election on November 8, 2022.

Garton was appointed by Gov. Bill Walker (I) on July 20, 2018, to replace Mark Rindner.[1]

Education

Garton received a bachelor's degree from Reed College in 1995, and a J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School in 2000.[2]

Career

Garton worked as an Assistant Public Defender from 2007 to 2018. Prior to that, she worked in private practice and for Alaska Legal Services from 2002 to 2007. She has also clerked for Alaska Supreme Court Justice Warren Matthews.[1]
