Lawrence S. Knipel
Lawrence S. Knipel was a judge of the New York Supreme Court 2nd Judicial District. He left office in 2024.

Knipel was re-elected to the Supreme Court on November 8th with 14.8% of the vote. He was cross-endorsed by the Democratic and Republican parties. Other successful candidates for the six open seats on the court were: Justice David Friedman, Justice Betsy Barros, Acting Justice Johnny Lee Baynes, Acting Justice Rachel Adams, and Carl J. Landicino.[1][2][3]
Education
Knipel received his undergraduate degree from the State University of New York of Cortland and his J.D. degree from the New York University School of Law.[4]
Career
Knipel began his career in 1979 as an associate of the law firm of Vanginkei and Benjamin. The next year, he became a law clerk for Judge Martin Schneier of the New York City Civil Court. He then served as a law clerk to Supreme Court Justice Jules Supdek from 1982 to 1990. Knipel's own judicial career began in 1991 when he became a judge of the New York City Civil Court. He was elected to the Supreme Court in 1998.[4]
