Two California "Secret Abortions" Initiatives (#14-0013 and #14-0014) did not make the November 8, 2016 ballot as initiated constitutional amendments.[1][2][3]
Supporters did not submit the required signatures for each initiative by the deadlines.[3]

Official summary:
- "Changes California Constitution to prohibit abortion for unemancipated minor until 48 hours after physician or other trained and licensed medical professional notifies her parent/legal guardian in writing. Provides exceptions for medical emergency, parental waiver, or parental abuse documented by notarized statement from law enforcement or relatives. Permits judge to waive notice if minor appears personally in court and proves maturity or waiver is in her best interest. Requires reporting of specific abortion information to State. Physicians/medical professionals subject to suit for 12 years."

Permits judge to waive notice if minor appears personally in court and proves maturity or best interest. Requires specific abortion information reported to State. Physicians subject to suit for 12 years."

- A title and summary was issued for Initiative #14-0013 by the Attorney General of California's office on February 20, 2015.
- A title and summary was issued for Initiative #14-0014 by the Attorney General of California's office on February 24, 2015.
- 585,407 valid signatures are required for qualification purposes.
- Supporters had until August 19, 2015 to collect enough signatures for Initiative #14-0013.
- Supporters had until August 24, 2015 for Initiative #14-0014.
- Not enough signatures were collected to place either initiative on the 2016 ballot. The California Secretary of State declared Initiative #14-0013 failed on September 2, 2015 and Initiative #14-0014 failed on September 4, 2015.[3]
