Brandon, Mississippi, is where I call home. I am a Christian, a mother, and a wife. I am the working middle class. I am a college professor. I received my Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in English from Jackson State University. I am a PhD candidate at Mississippi State University.

At a young age, I realized that despite my challenges, things could be different. I did not allow setbacks or discouragement to slow me down or prevent me from succeeding. Like most Americans, I did not quit. My faith and my village kept me grounded, and I believe majority of Americans can relate to my story.

  • I will keep working to make Mississippi a more egalitarian and progressive state with sound policy-making.
  • I plan to maintain my advocacy for a comprehensive school system.
  • To put it simply, I get people. I have the capacity to feel compassion and empathy for others. When it comes to the Republican Party and the beautiful state of Mississippi, I have the compassion to mend and create more harmony.

My First job was McDonald's at the age of 16. I worked there until I was 18.
I have a lot of favorite books. One of them: Their Eyes Were Watching God.

Janie accomplished her life goals based on her perspective. She was unconcerned about what others thought of her. Despite the fact that her life did not turn out as she had hoped, she has managed to thrive in her own way.
I struggle with not being able to stop eating chocolate.
