Tim Martin was a 2012 Libertarian candidate for District 26 of the Montana House of Representatives.
Martin's professional experience includes working in repair, maintenance, and electronic installation.[1]
Campaign themes
In an electronic communication, Martin described his political philosophy:[1]
"I have watched politics for years and always had strong opinions. After years of complaining about the way things are I realized that the only way to get people like me involved in making decisions was to step forward myself. I want to bring sanity to Helena."
He added,
"I seek a world of liberty; a world in which all individuals are sovereign over their own lives and no one is forced to sacrifice his or her values for the benefit of others. I believe that respect for individual rights is the essential precondition for a free and prosperous world, that force and fraud must be banished from human relationships, and that only through freedom can peace and prosperity be realized. Consequently, I defend each person's right to engage in any activity that is peaceful and honest, and welcome the diversity that freedom brings. The world I seek to build is one where individuals are free to follow their own dreams in their own ways, without interference from government or any authoritarian power."
In an interview with the Great Falls Tribune, Martin cited popular support for government assistance of the needy, while seeking to limit spending and bureaucracy.[2]
Elections
2012
Martin ran in the 2012 election for Montana House of Representatives, District 26. Martin ran unopposed in the June 5 primary election and was defeated by incumbent Robert Mehlhoff (D) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[3][4]
