Khan owns and operates an automotive repair and sales company.

Elections for the Missouri House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election was held on August 5, 2014, and a general election on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 25, 2014. Incumbent Kevin McManus was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Nola Wood was unopposed in the Republican primary. McManus defeated Wood in the general election.[4][5]

2012
Khan ran as a Democrat in the 2012 election for Missouri House of Representatives, District 32. Khan ran unopposed in the August 7 Democratic primary and was defeated by District 54 incumbent Jeanie Lauer (R) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[6][7]

Khan and his wife, Fauziya, have seven children. He was previously an Executive Member of Missouri Democratic Party Asian American Caucus and a National Delegate of US National Democratic Party Asian American Caucus.[3]
