CityBeat Magazine asked the 2017 mayoral candidates what their first priority would be if they were elected. Cager said, "We need to fund our police department and emergency crews. It’s not being done. I would like to make a change for the city. We need to address the streets and fix the potholes. There are things that need to be done and right now it’s not getting done – plain and simple."[6]
