John Bruce Buxton
John Bruce "J.B." Buxton was a 2015 candidate for District A of the Raleigh City Council in North Carolina. The general election took place on October 6, 2015.
Biography
Buxton earned a bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master's degree in public affairs from the Princeton University Woodrow Wilson School. His professional experience includes working as a high school teacher and coach, the director of special programs at the N.C. Teaching Fellows Program and the deputy state superintendent of the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Buxton started the Education Innovations Group in 2009, which advises state departments and organizations on improving public education. He is a member of the Raleigh Planning Commission.[1][2]

2015
The city of Raleigh, North Carolina, held elections for mayor and city council on October 6, 2015. A runoff took place on November 3, 2015. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was July 17, 2015.[3] In the District A race, Richard Thompson and Edwin W. Woodhouse, Jr. defeated John Bruce Buxton in the general election. Thompson defeated Woodhouse in the runoff election. Incumbent Wayne Maiorano did not run for re-election.[4][5][6]
