|Former candidate for|
|U.S. House, Michigan, District 10|
|Place of birth||Detroit, MI|
|Profession||Health insurance agent|
Volaric was born in Michigan, but grew up in California. At 18, he started his career for a large print media and color lithography company. He was promoted to managerial positions and stayed for 15 years. After moving back to Michigan, he started his own health insurance company, Freedom Health Insurance.
On his campaign website, Volaric listed nine issues. They were:
Excerpt: "It is a fundamental responsibility of the federal government to secure our borders and to craft and enforce an immigration policy that is ultimately beneficial to the United States of America."
- National Security
Excerpt: "The 21st century will be a dangerous place if America fails to protect itself. The nation must recommit itself to the principles that made this nation safe, free and prosperous. America must have the means to remain engaged in the world and act proactively to protect our nation and its citizens. We are a global power with global interests. The armed forces of these United States must have the capacity to act anywhere in the world where our vital interests are threatened."
Excerpt: "The Constitution reserves the issue of education for the states. While education is a state and local issue, clearly it is also a strategic interest at the federal level. It is vitally important that our citizens have access to the information and skills training necessary to not only help individuals provide for themselves and their families, but also to ensure that America can compete in the global economy. An educated work force yields technological breakthroughs, scientific advancements, medical cures, economic and personal freedom, and ultimately, a self-determinative society."
Excerpt: "Seniors here in Michigan and across America have blazed trails for us on so many fronts whether in space, technology, business, politics, or in homes. They have worked countless hours at often thankless jobs, raised children and grandchildren, built businesses, scrimped, saved, and invested. They have tirelessly and selflessly sacrificed, endured, and served as an example for all of us. Now we have the responsibility of carrying on that legacy of American exceptionalism, optimism, and determination."
- World class health care
Excerpt: "When it comes to something as personal as our health, do we believe bureaucrats in Washington know best? Do we trust them to make good decisions about our lives and the lives of our children and parents when we see the decisions they have made on our national budget and the deficit?"
- Strong families
Excerpt: "The family is the building block of the individual and of the nation. As a result of its primacy, we must do more to strengthen families."
- Safe communities
Excerpt: "The government’s first obligation is to protect American citizens. That requires using common sense to identify, and adequate funding to protect us from, threats originating from home or abroad. I will fight for a responsible and proper allocation of resources to protect Michigan citizens and will not allow any political agenda to compromise our security."
Excerpt: "A very important part of Michigan's rich heritage has always been farming and agribusiness. Not only do our family farms feed the nation, but Michigan farms also provide many vital jobs in a state which is struggling to address chronic double-digit unemployment. Like just about every other sector today, agriculture is being threatened by an out-of-control federal government. I will be a tireless advocate for Michigan's ag industry and will resist any attempts by Washington bureaucrats to put it at a disadvantage or to further expand federal power unconstitutionally."
- Energy and Environment
Excerpt: "The challenges we as Americans face with energy are serious and can no longer be put off for another day. We must find smarter ways to meet our needs without bankrupting our families or businesses, or compromising our stewardship of natural resources or our national security. Businesses require ever more energy to produce goods and, in the process, to create jobs. Families already struggle with trimming their family budget."
- Jobs and the Economy
Excerpt: "History teaches us that the unrivaled ingenuity and hard work of Americans in a free market have always been the driver for unequaled economic growth...not shuffling around decreasing tax dollars in politically-motivated programs fraught with waste and inefficiencies and run by a bloated government far removed from the citizens."
- Restoring Common Sense and Accountability to Government
Excerpt: "You don’t have to look far today to find proof that Americans in general and Michigan citizens in particular are upset with politics as usual in Lansing and Washington. Poll after poll confirms this, and the incumbents who haven’t already announced their retirement are scrambling."
Volaric was defeated by incumbent Sander Levin (D). Volaric ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent Michigan's 9th District. He defeated Gregory C. Dildilian in the Republican primary. He faced Democratic incumbent Sandy Levin, Jim Fulner (L), Julia Williams (G) and Les Townsend (UST) in the general election on November 6, 2012.
