I have dedicated my life and profession to children and academics. I have my Master's Degree in Special Education with a certificate in Special Education Leadership. During my 14 year career as a special education teacher, in both Fairfax and Prince William County (PWC), I gained extensive experience that has given me extraordinary insight into the inner workings of our public school system. As a social worker, I have also gained valuable experience supporting children and families. This June I resigned from my position as a special education teacher with Prince William County Schools (PWCS) so that I may fully dedicate my time as the best choice for the Brentsville School Board position.
  • Prioritize student success while connecting and supporting families
  • Value teachers and all staff
  • Fully fund our schools
My goals are simple: to make sure our children get the best education possible, to properly value our teachers and staff, and to support all PWC families. I firmly believe all children should have access to an excellent education no matter their ability, country of origin, background, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation or zip code. I will work hard to put PWCS in a position to recruit, train, compensate, and retain top-notch educators by fully funding our schools while using our resources equitably. I wish to ensure all teachers and staff instruct and/or serve in an environment in which they are treated as professionals and can focus on their craft. As an advocate, my mission is to listen to the concerns of all PWC families and ensure that PWC meets and exceeds the needs of all students. In summary I wish to create policies that foster an environment of equity and inclusiveness so we can better advocate for a school system in which all students feel safe, included, and valued at school: I know firsthand that a positive school experience for all children will produce higher educational outcomes. Please visit my website for more details, adeleforschoolboard.com.
My decisions in matters relating to our schools begin and end with what is the best for our students, teachers and staff, and community; I will be (and am) a public servant.
My first "real" job out of college was as a social worker in Philadelphia. I worked as a social worker for two years where I observed firsthand the impact the quality of one's education has on one's choices in life. As a result I switched my career goals and became a Special Education Teacher. It is in my nature to serve my community, I am and always will be, a public servant.
The School Board has the power to connect the community to the schools, shape philosophy, and determine budgetary priorities. The policies created by the Board cover a broad range of areas from instruction to personnel. They also have a responsibility to maintain and strengthen relationships with all stakeholders, including other government bodies. The School Board is a direct link to the community and the schools. As the community communicates with the Board members initiatives grow and become stronger. The schools must also feel comfortable to communicate with the School Board.

The wonderful voters of Brentsville.
The greatest strengths are the diversity the students and staff bring. PWCS assets are its staff members and the community itself. This is a large county that sits next to the Capital and offers a strong connection to this Nation's history. These strengths, at times, are also challenges. It is difficult to manage an ever-growing county with both rural and urban environments. It is difficult to manage a county with one-size-fit all budget which impacts everything from over-crowding to differing community opinions and needs.
As a former social worker and special educator I understand the need of communicating with all stakeholders and including everyone's voices in the discussion. It is important to take into account everyone's view point while making meetings accessible to working families, duel language households, and ability differences. Meetings and communication must be accessible to all. It is a priority for me to connect with all groups and organizations that have a stake in our schools, including the Board of County Supervisors. As a special educator and a former special education student I bring a unique and vital view not currently presented on the Board; this will help connect and build relationships with the community.
