Cacciottolo was running in the 2012 election for Illinois House of Representatives District 21. Cacciottolo was set to face off against Rudy Lozano and Silvana Tabares in the Democratic primary on March 20, 2012, but withdrew from the race on January 12, 2012.[1] No candidates filed to run in the Republican primary. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
