Caporaso filed to run for the board in the 2016 general election, but withdrew before the election. However, his name still appeared on the ballot.

Three of the nine seats on the Toms River Regional Schools school board in New Jersey were up for by-district general election on November 7, 2017. All three seats up for election were those representing the Toms River District. One former candidate and two newcomers joined the board: Ginny Rhine, Michael Horgan, and Michele Williams. The defeated candidates included board member Robert Onofrietti Jr., former candidates Al Caporaso and Teri Kubiel, and newcomers Tammy Coyle, Stephen Kaczala, and Al Schwartz.[1]

Funding

Caporaso did not report campaign contributions or expenditures in this election as of October 24, 2017, according to the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission.[2]

2016

Three of the nine seats on the Toms River Regional Schools school board were up for by-district general election on November 8, 2016. The Beachwood District incumbent did not file to run for re-election. Daniel Leonard defeated Leslie Brown, and Alexander Mizenko for the seat. In the Pine Beach District, incumbent Russell Corby won re-election by defeating challenger Jennifer Etzkorn. In the race for the unexpired Tom's River District seat, Janet Bell defeated Alfred Shwartz, Al Caporaso and former board member Ginny Rhine to win the seat.[3]

Funding

Caporaso reported $22,640.75 in contributions and $22,640.75 in expenditures to the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission, which left his campaign with $0.00 on hand in the election.[4]

2015

Three of the nine seats on the Toms River Regional Schools school board were up for general election on November 3, 2015.[5] The seats of incumbents Joseph Torrone, Gigi Esparza, and Ginny Rhine were on the ballot.[6]

Challengers Joe Nardini and Christopher Raimann defeated Rhine and Torrone for the two Toms River Township seats. Nardini and Raimann ran together as a candidate slate. South Toms River Borough incumbent Esparza won re-election without opposition. Al Caporaso originally filed to run in this race, but he withdrew before the election.[7][8]
