My name is Anne Douglas. I was born and raised in France, and I first came to America as a cultural representative at Epcot, where I met my husband of over 30 years. I have been teaching in Orange County Public Schools for over 25 years and have experience teaching elementary, middle, and high school; I also taught higher education for four years. I'm a wife and a mother to three kids who attended OCPS. I have a Master's degree in education from Nova Southeastern University. As a public school teacher, I have witnessed my colleagues leaving the classroom in record numbers due to inadequate pay and high levels of censorship. By valuing teachers' perspectives and embracing innovative ideas, I am confident in finding solutions to fortify the education system. I am running to help foster a supportive and nurturing environment where all students have the potential to thrive and exceed expectations.
- Every neighborhood in district 4 needs to have safe, well-funded public schools.
- OCPS needs to expand mental health services for students, faculty, and staff as well as accommodate students with physical disabilities.
- Our school district needs to become a leader in environmental sustainability, lowering energy costs and playing a role in conservation.
I am passionate about enhancing quality education, supporting teachers and addressing educational inequality.
Viola Davis, regardless of the hardships she experienced as a child, she followed her passion and rose above it all. I encourage my students, especially those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds to work hard, find their passion, and outperform the expectations of those who underestimate their abilities.

If I could be a fictional character, I would be " Anne Of Green Gables." Anne is articulate, vivacious, perky, daring, and inquisitive. She is also quite upbeat and persistent.
The primary job of a school board member is to ensure that all students receive a quality education regardless of their background, sexuality, gender, ethnicity and ability status. in addition, a school board member's job is to be able to work effectively and collaborate with fellow board members, educators, and stakeholders.

2. Provide opportunities for ongoing professional development for faculty and staff
3. Engage and listen to the concerns and feedback of students, families, and community members from diverse backgrounds and foster open communication
4. Enhance support services such as counseling, special education, language support, and enrichment programs
5. Collaborate with community, cultural groups, and local agencies to provide additional support for students and families facing challenges Fostering an inclusive environment for all, and being sensitive and respectful of diverse backgrounds. I will also work to establish partnerships with community organizations, non-profits, businesses, and other local officials to address issues and concerns for the benefit of students and families. Finally, I will remain accessible and responsive to community members feedbacks and inquiries through emails, social media, and in-person meetings.
Good teaching constitutes:
1. Content knowledge: teachers should have a deep understanding of the subject matter they teach
2. Teachers should use diverse teaching strategies to cater to different learning styles
3. Teachers must be skillful in classroom management, ensuring a conducive learning environment where students feel safe, respected, and motivated to learn
4. Good teachers establish positive relationships with students based on trust, respect and empathy.
5. Good teachers implement effective assessment to monitor students progress, and provide constructive feedback. We need to expand curriculum by introducing advanced technical training programs in fields such as information technology, cybersecurity, renewable energy, and engineering. I'm the parent of a STEM major, so naturally I know that we need to strengthen STEM education by integrating robotics, computer science, and data analytics in our curriculum along with offering specialized STEM pathways that prepare students for careers in STEM fields through industry partnerships. I would expand CTE programs that provide students with practical skills and certifications in areas such as healthcare, culinary arts, hospitality, automotive technology and construction, and continue to expand dual enrollment opportunities that allow students to earn college credits. Finally, I will work with colleagues to develop curriculum that explores environmental sustainability, climate change, and renewable energy sources, which will have an impact on jobs in the future.
Some strategies I would use are ensuring equitable distribution of resources based on students' needs, collaborate with businesses, and community organizations to supplement funding through grants, donations, and partnerships. As a school board member, it is also important to prioritize competitive salaries for teachers and invest in professional development programs to retain qualified teachers. My office would also develop long-term financial plans that prioritize the advancement of our students, which would aid in encouraging community members from my district to attend fundraising events.
The principles that drive my policies for safety in schools are:
1. ensuring that safety policies consider the diverse needs of all students, staff, and special needs students and community members
2. collaborating with school administrators, teachers, students, families, and community stakeholders to develop and implement effective safety measures
3. regularly reviewing and updating safety policies based on feedback and evaluations
4. developing a comprehensive plan for responding to crises and maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment I would provide access to on-site counselors or mental health professionals who can offer confidential support and therapy sessions for students, faculty, and staff; conduct training programs to raise awareness about mental health issues; introduce wellness programs that promote activities like yoga, stress management, and workshops to enhance mental well-being; integrate mental health education into the curriculum to foster understanding and empathy. finally, we need to engage parents in discussions and workshops about recognizing signs of mental issues.

A safe environment where students feel respected, valued, and supported by teachers, staff, and peers. My ideal learning environment fosters academic excellence, embraces diversity, and promotes collaboration.
I will ensure open communication with parents through emails, newsletters, social media, and the district website. The most important way is to also hold physical events, so I will organize and participate in events such as town hall meetings, coffee chats, and informational sessions where parents can meet with school board members, ask questions, and discuss concerns. I will conduct surveys or focus groups to gather information form parents on their educational priorities and concerns. Finally, I will ensure transparency in school board decisions, budget allocations, and policy developments.
I will ensure partnerships with local colleges and universities to recruit new graduates and experienced professionals, using multiple platforms for job postings including educational networks to reach a diverse pool of candidates. We must highlight professional development opportunities, retirement plans, and other incentives to attract candidates. Another important strategy is implementing inclusive hiring practices to attract a diverse pool of candidates and promote equity within the workforce.
