I am running for Congress because I believe my diverse professional background has given me the experience and knowledge base to effectively serve the people of my district. My experience is bolstered by being raised in a family with high standards for advocacy and empathy. Additionally, as a Fort Lauderdale City Commissioner and the current Vice Mayor, I have prided myself on accessibility and unparalleled constituent service and practices which I am confident would serve the district well. My U.S. Navy career, where National Intelligence is paramount, has provided me with experience which my opponents cannot match. This is a solidly Democratic district. As such, I believe that the people of the 23rd deserve a strong, unquestionably lifelong Democrat in this seat.
  • This is a coastal district, and South Florida is ground zero for the current climate emergency. In this District we need to combat sea-level rise through proactive mitigation solutions achieved by bringing together stakeholders at the Federal and State levels. I will fight for funding for Everglades Restoration to protect our water and environment. My climate change priority includes a focus on equitable weatherization. Equitable weatherization will lower home/housing costs while also enhancing housing quality and health, such that families can retain their homes and access safe, affordable housing.
  • As a member of the US Navy Reserve with significant weapons training, I feel there is no place for assault rifles in our daily lives. I support a ban on assault rifles and national background checks. The 23rd is home to Parkland, the site of one of the worst mass shootings in the country’s history, but this systemic problem plagues so many, in particular communities of color. I am committed to addressing guns/gun violence in our communities.
  • Affordable housing is a major issue in this District, during my time as Vice Mayor/City Commissioner in the City of Fort Lauderdale I've been a strong and visible advocate for dynamic solutions to the housing crisis. I will bring a zealous and solution based advocacy for afforable housing solutions to CD 23.
Climate change- This is a coastal district, and South Florida is ground zero for the current climate emergency. My climate change priority includes a focus on equitable weatherization. Equitable weatherization will lower home/housing costs while also enhancing housing quality and health, such that families can retain their homes and access safe, affordable housing.

Affordable housing- Housing costs are soaring here, and wages are not keeping pace with rents and mortgages.
Gun violence- There are too many guns on our streets. The 23rd is home to Parkland, the site of one of the worst mass shootings in the country’s history, but this systemic problem plagues so many, in particular communities of color.

Reproductive Rights- I unequivocally support the passage of a Federal law codifying access to contraception and abortion. I am 100% pro-choice. I believe that women should be able to make their own healthcare decisions without any interference from the government. This includes family planning and birth control. Women should be empowered to control their lives, health and careers by deciding when and if they are ready to start or grow a family. Birth control methods should be readily available and affordable. I have 2 daughters and I want to make sure they have full control over their bodies and personal choices.

I have 2 elementary aged daughters and for them I hope to leave behind a legacy of being a kind person who serves the public out of a since desire to improve the quality of life for all. I hope my girls will view me as a reasonable, hardworking, and empathetic advocate for others.
