An effort to recall Bill Broderick and Sheri Garber from their respective positions as mayor and city council member in Fate, Texas was launched in September 2013. The effort failed to go to a vote because of complications with election timing regulations.[1]

Background

Recall supporters were upset over the two elected officials use of the powers of their positions. One recall supporter, Mark Roland, said in a formal statement for the group leading the effort, "The form of power that Bill Broderick and Sheri Garber relish in is called personalized power, and they enjoy it because they are using that power for personal gain and fulfillment."[1]

In September 2013 recall supporters filed paperwork with the Fate City Secretary in hopes of being able to circulate a recall petition. They were subsequently informed that recall elections could only be held during regular November or May elections; it was too late to file for the November 2013 election and Broderick and Garber were already up for election in May 2014.[1]
