Benson ran for election to the Vermont Superior Courts, as an assistant judge of Orleans County.
General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 8.9 percent of the vote. He competed against Democrat Larry Duane, Democrat John Elwell, Republican Benjamin M. Batchelder and Republican Curtis A. Hardy for two open seats.
