Duane ran for election to the Vermont Superior Courts, as an assistant judge of Orleans County.
Primary: He was successful in the Democratic primary on August 26, 2014, receiving 29.9 percent of the vote. He competed against John Elwell and Joe Wood.
General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 14.8 percent of the vote. He competed against Democrat John Elwell, Republican Benjamin M. Batchelder, Republican Curtis A. Hardy and Independent Bob Benson for two open seats.
